From luxury to budget-friendly stays, we have rounded up some of the best hotels in Schinoussa. But before you book your accommodation, make sure you read our ultimate Schinoussa Travel Guide and our guide to the island’s beaches.
Where to Stay in Chora (Panagia)
The capital and the largest of the island’s settlements is Chora, also called Panagia, a name it owes to the Church of the Virgin Mary (Panagia). Strategically built upon a hill to afford early warning of the pirate ships that roamed the Aegean, Chora has sweeping views of the sea. If you choose to stay in one of its whitewashed houses, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to dining, local life, and easy places to walk to.
Dirt roads and smaller paths starting from either end of the village lead to the lovely beaches of Tsigouri and Livadi, where some of the best hotels can be found.
Tsigouri beach, a ten-minute walk southwest of Chora, has a few good amenities with a beach bar and a tavern. With a wide stretch of golden sand and tall tamarisk trees that provide plenty of shade for almost everyone, this is probably the island’s most popular beach.
Africanis Suites & Apartments
Africanis Suites are conveniently located right in the center of the village and just 500m away from the popular Tsigouri beach. Close by, the two Africanis Apartments are equipped with a kitchenette and a large private balcony overlooking the Aegean’s turquoise waters.
Both tranquil and vibrant, they are minutes away from everything the island has to offer!
Agnadema Luxury Residences
Just before entering the village, there is a Cycladic estate embraced by vineyards, olive groves, and a lush garden. There, you will find the Agnadema Luxury Residences, consisting of three suites and two standard double bedrooms.
On the building’s ground floor, Agnadema restaurant prepares traditional recipes with local meat and fresh vegetables from their garden. And the inviting smell of freshly-baked bread, pies, and tsoureki coming from the family-owned bakery fills the air each morning!
Ailouros Hotel & Guesthouse
At the entrance of the main village, on a spot named “Louros”, you will find the two “Ailouros” facilities.
The first one,Ailouros Summer Hotel, provides spacious rooms with panoramic views from their balcony. The other one,Ailouros Scenic Guest Houses, is comprised of traditional two-bedroom houses with a gorgeous outdoor space to spend time overlooking the beautiful sunset.
Peaceful and tranquil yet a 2min stroll to the lovely village and a 10min walk to the beach!
Archipelagos Boutique Hotel
Archipelagos Boutique Hotel is built in front of Tsigouri, the island´s most popular beach, and just 700m away from the village. It consists of six stone-built bungalows, a swimming pool, and 65.000sq/m of private unspoiled surroundings.

Sitting ideally on a hill a breath away from Chora, Schinoza Luxury Suites are immaculately designed to blend smoothly with the natural surroundings. They combine the minimal Cycladic architecture with natural elements and premium facilities, such as private pools and jacuzzis.
Boasting a mesmerizing sea view of the Aegean sea and the verdant garden, this Schinoussa accommodation is a luxurious oasis of serenity!
Theasis Luxury Suites
The hotel consists of 8 luxurious suites, each coming with anatomic mattresses and a private balcony with panoramic sea views. Decorated in a contemporary yet minimalist style, each of them is quite special:
At Skinos Suite with the hand-carved wooden furniture and the rope details, you will feel like staying at a fisherman’s cabin. At Vintage and Insular Suite, the retro chandelier hanging above the bed and the wooden mirrors transfer you to a ferry-tale. And at Kedros Suite, the furniture made out of a tree trunk completes this magical sensation of Greek mythology.
Where to Stay at Livadi Beach
Easily accessed from Chora, Livadi may not be a village itself, but here you will find a handful of accommodation facilities, a tavern, and – of course – some lovely beaches.
Livadi beach, with its golden sand, natural shade, and shallow waters, is ideal for families. Walk for 5min to the west, and you will get to Tholari, a small and quiet beach but without any natural shade. And for ultimate seclusion, the tiny sandy beach Ammoudaki tou Garbi can be reached by following the footpath below the dovecote at the end of Livadi.
Schinoussa Guesthouse
In Schinoussa Guesthouse, comfort meets tradition, and modern services are in harmony with the original way of living on this virgin island.
The Guesthouse includes three independent stone apartments, each with its style and built according to the Cycladic style and aesthetics. The rooms are spacious, still intimate, and feature heirlooms and objects often used in the area of Small Cyclades.
A stroll in the garden will make you feel you are in your croft, since you are welcome to pick the fruit and vegetables that grow in it!
Tholari Studios
In a beautiful, classic Cycladic landscape with a view of the amazing light blue of the Aegean, Tholari Studios emerges through bougainvilleas and oleanders. It is a superb resort consisting of three buildings, depicting perfectly the traditional Aegean architecture.
Every room has a private balcony or veranda and is fully equipped with a kitchen and fridge, television, air-condition, and hairdryer.
Just below, the small and quiet Tholari beach is perfect for those seeking seclusion.
Notos Studios
Just a few steps away from the popular sandy beach Livadi Notos Studios offers an absolute sense of privacy and tranquility. It provides deluxe studios for 2-3 people, equipped with built-in furniture and shower, and a kitchenette with the necessary utensils.
Each studio opens up to a private veranda that allows the visitor to appreciate the peacefulness of the surroundings.
Where to Stay in Messaria
A 1.5km road connects Chora with Messaria, passing by Vergies, the island’s highest peak, and some old windmills. A sparsely populated hamlet, Messaria comes to life during summer, when visitors walk its beautiful footpaths that lead amid vineyards to gorgeous beaches.
Our favourite beaches – Gerolimnionas and Psili Ammos – are just 15min away. Plus, the sunset here is amazing!
Harama Hotel
“Come as a tourist, stay as a friend, leave as a family member”.
This is Harama’s welcome sign. And indeed, Stefania and her family offer their guests a home away from home.
Located in an idyllic rural setting, the accommodation is a good 15min walk to the main village but so are our absolute favourite beaches, Gerolimnionas and Psili Ammos. Each room, decorated in a minimalist style, has its private balcony with beautiful views of the island’s soft landscape and the distant sea.
Guests can start their morning or end their night at the onsite restaurant with delicious dishes made with local ingredients straight from the garden!
Africanis Bungalows
A bit to the north, close to the village of Mesaria, Africanis Bungalows have large patios, private jacuzzis, and the most spectacular views of the sea and the island. A great stay for couples and honeymooners, the bungalows are a small hidden treasure ideal for those looking for tranquility!
